Comedy Central has joined forces once again with Jon Stewart’s Busboy Productions for it’s fourth biennial event, Night of Too Many Stars: America Comes Together for Autism Programs. The event happens October 13th at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. The benefit will feature Jon Stewart hosting an evening filled with live performances, sketches, and short films from a roster of comedy and celebrity all-stars. Past participants have included Will Arnett, Fred Armisen, Jack Black, Lewis Black, Matthew Broderick, Steve Carell, Kristin Chenoweth, George Clooney, Stephen Colbert, Elvis Costello, and many more.
The Killers are preparing to take stage next month at the Paradise Theatre in Bronx, New York for the “American Express Unstaged” music series. This is the 11th edition of Unstaged and the show coincides with the release date for the Las Vegas rock band’s fourth studio album, “Battle Born.” Directing the live-stream is German film director Werner Herzog who’s filmography includes “Nosferatu the Vampyre” (1979), “Fitzcarraldo” (1982) and “Invincible” (2001). The show is September 18th and you can also can the band at a Toronto performance September 22nd.
Action at the US Open Tennis Championship in Flushing, New York, is well underway with defending champion Novak Djokovic and world No. 1 Roger Federer easily sweeping through their first round matches. Victoria Azarenka and Serena Williams have enjoyed the same success in their first rounds with three-time US Open championKim Clijsters losing in her second round match.
