Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio Music Festival returns for its second year. The overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural festival paved the way for the event to return to Las Vegas for a two-day musical extravaganza at the MGM Grand Garden Arena September 21st and 22nd. Although this year’s lineup is will not be announced until July 9th, last year’s performers included Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Coldplay, Alicia Keys, Steven Tyler, The Black Eyed Peas, Kenny Chesney, and more. Phish announces the second leg of their U.S. summer tour including their first-ever show in Oklahoma. With no more dates to be scheduled for the 30-date plus tour, the next couple of months is your only chance to catch the band this year. Phish comes to Long Beach, San Francisco, Kansas City, Pelham, Atlanta, Charlotte, St. Louis, Oklahoma City, and more. 

Red Hot Chili Peppers adds more Canadian dates to their North American tour. Frontman Anthony Kiedis had to recover from foot surgery, causing a delay to the start of the tour. After removing a crushed bone in the singer’s foot and correcting a detached flexor tendon, Kiedis is finally healed enough to endure the regiment of a live high-energy Chili Peppers show. The Hall of Fame Inductees add Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg. 

Journey teams up with Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, along with Canada’s Loverboy for a summer U.S. tour. This massive 1980s revival features Journey’s new frontman Arnel Pineda, who’s documentary about his rise from his native Philippines to becoming the lead singer of one of America’s most famous bands premiers at the Tribeca Film Festival in April. The summer tour comes to San Bernardino, Stateline, Cheyenne, Quincy, Airway Heights, Salt Lake City, Englewood, Indianapolis, Wantagh, Des Moines, Dallas, Kansas City, and more. 

Iconic guitarist Carlos Santana announces a mid-summer slew of dates, including a Las Vegas residency. His Las Vegas run of dates starts on May 2nd and is billed as “An Intimate Evening With Santana – Greatest Hits Live, Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow.” Also that month, his new album “Shape Shifter” comes out, a collection of 13 instrumental tracks by the famed guitarist. Country megastar Garth Brooks has announced a rare non-Las Vegas show, this time in Calgary on July 12, 2012 at the Saddledome.

With the release of her first album in seven years, Fiona Apple has announced plans for a summer tour. The Grammy-winning artist’s new album “The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw And Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do” will be released in June and she takes to the road the next day. One month after completing a tour with Big Time Rush, the British boy band One Direction returns to the U.S. for their own headlining tour. After taking a 20-year break from solo albums, the Eagles’ Glenn Frey is stepping back into the spotlight with a new album “After Hours,” which is a collection of cover songs of his favorite pop standards. He puts his own take on classic tunes like “The Look of Love,” “The Good Life,” and “Route 66.” He follows the album, due out in May, with a string of U.S. dates that takes him to New York City, Washington, D.C., Englewood, Bethlehem, and Mashantucket.

Canadian rockers, Barenaked Ladies, announce dates for their “Last Summer on Earth tour.” Joining them will be Blues Traveler, Cracker, and Big Head Todd, as they play more than 30 arenas across North America. Kicking off in July, the tour will be in Toldeo, Canandalgua, Kettering, Chicago, Vienna, Raleigh, Charlotte, West Palm Beach, Austin, Spring, Dallas, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and more. 

With a booked European tour already selling out, Sting adds more U.S. and Canada summer dates. Performing with his five-piece band consisting of Dominic Miller, Vinnie Colauita, David Sancious, Peter Tickell, and Jo Lawry, Sting plays New York City, Thackerville, Atlanta, Atlantic City, Lewiston, and Calgary. 

The Steve Miller Band, which has been rocking audiences for two generations, will bring its high-energy shows across the U.S. for a 2012 tour. Led by Wisconsin native Steve Miller, the band, which has sold more than 30 million records, open their summer tour in June in Englewood, New Jersy. The tour comes to Red Bank, Morristown, Cleveland, South Bend, Morton, Friant, Mountain View, Lincoln, Cincinnati, Hyannis, Gilford, Glen Allen, and many more. 

Madonna adds yet another date to accommodate fans missing out on her sold out tour. She is now dropping by Detroit, November 8th, in addition to such cities as New Orleans, Houston, Kansas City, Saint Louis, Saint Paul, Clevelnad, Atlanta, Miami, Saint Louis, and more.

Elton John adds more dates to his “The Million Dollar Piano” residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The legendary performer also has plans for other U.S. shows including New York City, Springfield, Fort Wayne, and more. 

Rod Stewart & Stevie Nicks have teamed up for a summer tour and due to overwhelming popularity have added dates in Washington, D.C., Tulsa, Houston, and Greensboro. 

Garbage has scheduled its first U.S. tour dates since 2005. The alternative rock band is preparing to release its fifth studio album, “Not Your Kind Of People,” since 2005′s “Bleed Like Me.” Touring in support of the new album, Garbage comes to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Tucson, Tempe, Houston, Austin, Aspen, Denver, Salt Lake City, Boston, and more. 

John Mayer is forced to take “an indefinite break from live performing” as a result of the same vocal cord problems that forced him to cancel his fall tour last year. He is anticipating a second surgery and has no definite timetable for a return but in the meantime plans to write another album in the time he would have been touring. His upcoming album, “Born and Raised,” will still be released on schedule.

Nickelback have recruited the services of U.K. rock vets Bush, South African rockers Seether, and newcomers and fellow Canadians My Darkest Days for a massive 39-date summer tour of North America. They are supporting their latest album “Here and Now” with what they say will be their “biggest, baddest, most over-the-top show yet,” and come to Moline, Grand Rapids, Detroit, Columbus, New York City, Montreal, Toronto, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harford, and more, starting in April. 

Il Volo released their debut live CD along with a new batch of North American tour dates. The live CD and DVD, “Il Volo Takes Flight – Live From The Detroit Opera House,” was filmed on their first North American tour last year and features the three teenage tenors performing such Italian classics as “O Sole Mio” and “Un Amore Cosi Grande.” The Italian operatic pop group comes to Minneapolis, Saint Louis, Louisville, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Chicago, Rochester, Toronto, New York City, Boston, Washington, DC, and more. 

Furthur announces plans for its 2012 summer tour, kicking off July 5th in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The band, created by The Grateful Dead alums Phil Lesh and Bob Weir, also come to Boston, Wallingford, Philadelphia, Columbia, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and more, with an eight night engagement at New York City’s Beacon Theatre.

Yanni announces more dates for his massive 2012 North America tour. Supporting his most recent album, “Truth of Touch,” the self-taught pianist and composer follows the heels of his sold-out world tour with a tour through the U.S. and Canada. Catch the multi-platinum selling artist when he comes to Miami, Saint Louis, Boston, Montreal, Holmdel, Salt Lake City, Morrison, Albuquerque, Phoenix, and many more. 

After last summer’s successful debut with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Canadian songstress Sarah Mclachlan announces that she will embark on a complete orchestra tour this summer. In each city McLachlan will work with a local symphony orchestra program, rotating players and arrangements nightly. The tour kicks off in June and comes to Toronto, Shelburne, Toledo, Nasville, Rochester, Atlanta, Columbia, Boston, Atlantic City, and more. 

Multi-platinum, musical phenomenon, Celtic Thunder continues to pay homage to the musical culture of Ireland with a 2012 tour. The fall tour starts in Canada on September 5th and travels to St. John’s, Sydney, Halifax, Moncton, Windsor, Hershey, Boston, Westbury, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Salem, Bethlehem, and more.

The BNP Paribas Open kicks off this week in Indian Wells. The tournament features the world’s top tennis players battling for the one million dollar championship prize. Among those included in the field are defending champ and the world’s number one Novak Djokovic, along with Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Caroline Wozniacki, Maria Sharapova, and women’s world number one Victoria Azarenka who is coming off a 17 match win-streak.

The 2012 NCAA March Madness is now upon us. The lineup for this year’s Rainforest Fund has been announced and includes performers Sting, Elton John, James Taylor, Meryl Streep, Rosanne Cash, Vince Gill, and a number of surprise guests. The Rainforest Fund was founded by Sting and his wife Trudie Styler to bring awareness to the destruction of the world’s rainforests. This year’s benefit is April 3rd at Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall in New York City. 

Oprah Winfrey takes the stage in Canada for her Oprah’s Lifeclass Tour, her popular series that connects viewers with the lessons that guide her life. She will be joined on stage by hand-picked experts including life and business coach Tony Robbins, spiritualist Deepak Chopra, Bishop T.D. Jakes, and inspirational author Iyanla Vanzant. The series comes to Toronto April 16th for two shows. 

Austin, Texas, hosts an all-star tribute to the Man in Black with the We Walk The Line Johnny Cash Benefit. Slated to perform are Kenny Chesney, Kris Kristofferson, Amy Lee, Lucinda Williams, Brandi Carlile, Andy Grammer, Shooter Jennings, Rhett Miller, and more. Proceeds from the event go to Charley’s Fund to help find a cure for fatal children’s disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The event is April 20th at Moody Theater.

The residency begins August 29th at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
