A fun filled event that has everything to do with dogs and the people who love them. This dog show will have breed judging and obedience, agility dogs racing over obstacle courses, flyball teams hurdling to beat the clock, and four-footed athletes catching Frisbees and dancing to music. There will also be the Mari Jon Filla Student Art Exhibit and the McScotty Market to buy dog goodies. There will also be practical clinics on dog health, grooming and training and also a Meet the Breed seminar to find the perfect pet for any family. Anyone is welcome to the Dog Shows; and if guests bring their dog, they will have the opportunity to participate in Agility and Rally trials even if they are not registered with the American Kennel Club or the Canine Partners Program. Courses will be set up and trained professionals on-site to help teach the owners and handlers how to properly compete in the Agility and Rally sports. Admission is Adults: $10.00, Children: $1.00 (with adult) and Seniors: $5.00.

This years pirate bash will include a silent auction, great food, ale for all and entertainment to shiver ye timbers! Doors will open to the public at 6:00 pm and bidding on silent auction items will continue until 8:30 pm. Admission will be $15 each at the door, $12 for GAC members. Pirate attire is encouraged! Drawing for the raffle will take place at 9:00 pm. Galveston Mayor Joe Jaws Jaworski will serve as honorary chair of the event and will do the honor of drawing the winning raffle ticket. The grand prize is a 4-night Caribbean cruise for two adults. A second drawing will be held for an eighteen inch freshwater cultured 10mm black pearl necklace.

Seven great years of witty conversation, fly dance moves, and high intellect mingling The perfect party, where the science club meets the social set, happens every Friday night this summer with “The Octanes” setting the mood for the evening on July 22nd. Admission is $10 members, $15 non-members.
New This Year! Houston’s best food trucks will be on site for Mixers & Elixirs each Friday, serving up delicious dinners and delectable desserts. Different food trucks will be there each week. Food is not included in Mixers & Elixirs ticket. Some trucks may accept only cash. HMNS has an ATM located in the Grand Hall. This weeks featured food trucks will be: H-Town StrEATs Globally inspired street food. Cash only; and Melange Creperie Savory and sweet Parisian style crepes. Cash only.

July 22-24, 2011 – Kayak Boat Rides on Kinder Lake
Experience something that will have you and your friends talking all summer! Enjoy a guided kayak ride on Kinder Lake in the shadow of Houston’s dramatic skyline. It can be very relaxing, peaceful, and serene, while awakening your awareness of nature. Hours are extended this Saturday until 8PM. Cost is $5 per person (kayak accomodates 2 people and 1 guide).

Enjoy a leisurely Saturday concert at the winery with friends. The featured artist for this event will be “Nigel Edison” who was recently featured on Houstons own “Great Day Houston” show with Debra Duncan. Admission is $5.00. July 24, 2011 6-8:30PM – Sunday Concert Series hosts “Level One Band”
The Sunday concert series hosts the “Level One Band”. Bring your own wine glass (if you prefer) and a lawn chair or blanket to make sure you have a comfortable seat. Chair seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. They have a wonderful deli in the Tasting Room if you want to create your own picnic basket, but will be serving food from their full service kitchen. (The menu will vary each Sunday.) No outside food or drink allowed. The event is $5 per person 21 years of age and older, children are welcome and are free to attend.
